Leah Tinari is an artist based in New York, NY. Since graduating from RISD in 1998 Tinari has documented her life and friends through photos and paintings that capture the energy and exuberance of her surroundings. Her signature use of rich bright color and dynamic composition continues to captivate viewers with its contemporary content and references to the history of figurative painting. Using her daily life and the stuff in it, the people, the places as primary influences to create a visual diary, a dialogue between people and art and art and life. Tinari’s work goes beyond pure visual exploration of the figure and objects in dynamic and arresting compositions; her real interest lies in the subjects themselves and the psychology of human interaction.
Leah’s prolific portfolio straddles fine art, commercial art and fashion. Tinari has 3 picture books published, 2 with Simon and Schuster as Author- Illustrator and her 1stpicture book with Penguin Random House as Illustrator. Leah and her work have been featured in many notable publications such as, The New Yorker, The Fashion of the Times, Manhattan Magazine, AdBusters, WWD, The Coveteur, The Art of Eating, Elle, Spin and Screw Magazine.
Tinari has done campaigns with Nike, American Express, Mini Cooper and Collaborations with Bergdorf Goodman, Rebag, Uniqlo and Hoppy Beverage Co. (Japan) She and her work have also been featured on the Rachael Ray Show, CBS This Morning and Inside Edition.
Leah’s work has also recently stepped off the 2-D canvas to custom hand painted apparel, sneakers and handbags and had gained famed clients such as; Adriana Lima, Mark Hamill, Caroline Vreeland, Adrian Grenier, Michael Kelly, Yves Durif, Ryan Babenzien, and David M. Solomon.
Tinari works out of her East Village studio and will continue to submerge herself in interesting projects, focusing on making her work accessible to all people in and out of the gallery and on the street. She will look to future collaborations that will keep her inspired and her work evolving.
